YASKAWA Electric Corporation (Head Office: Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan; Representative Director, President: Masahiro Ogawa) launched the MPX1000 series of machine controllers for optimized equipment control on January 25, 2024. These controllers are part of the newly developed “iCube Control” control solution, which is designed to realize the i³-Mechatronics solution concept that adds digital data management to automation solutions. On April 8, 2026, Yaskawa expanded the lineup with a base-mount MPX1010 model, optimized for controlling equipment with large numbers of axes. On the same day, the company launched the SVF-12 motion unit, which increases the number of controllable axes.

1. Aim of Products

Yaskawa brought the MPX1000 series MPX1310 to market in November 2023 as a successor to the MP3000 series of machine controllers (MP3200/MP3300). The new series enabled higher machinery/equipment speeds and improved productivity. As automation has advanced in recent years, equipment units are being integrated into larger systems with more axes and functions. In order to meet the need for increased multi-axis control in such systems, Yaskawa developed the highly scalable MPX1000 series MPX1010 and SVF-12 motion unit.

Up to 24 option units can be connected to the MPX1010, and the addition of SVF-12 motion units enables it to perform synchronized control of up to 640 servomotors.

2. Main Features

・Supports large-scale and high speed systems

The CPU-12U CPU unit has two MECHATROLINK-4 circuits, and can connect up to 128 servo drives and I/O devices. The base-mount construction is compatible with large-scale systems. With additional SVF-12 motion units, synchronized control of up to 640 servomotors is possible. (When using two PSA-01 or PSD-01 power supply units) Additionally, the use of high-speed, large-capacity optional buses further enhances communications performance. (Communications speed: About 4x faster than MP3200)

・Optimal communications for equipment control

The CPU-12U has two Ethernet ports. It can use both general-purpose Ethernet and EtherNet/IP communications. It supports message communications in a range of communications protocols, making it easy to use without a user application.

・User application compatibility with MP2000/MP3000 Series

The MPX1010 works with user applications from the previous MP2000/MP3000 series. Switching MECHATROLINK communications between MECHATROLINK-4 and MECHATROLINK-III is also possible, making it easy to replace existing MP2000/MP3000 systems.

・Support for SLIO I/O series

A wide range of systems can be built by directly connecting various types of SLIO I/O to the MPX1010 unit. Additionally, SLIO I/O devices can be distributed as remote I/O by using bus couplers supported by various types of networks, such as MECHATROLINK-4.
