Launch of MOTOMAN-HD7 and HD8 for hygienic environments markets

 YASKAWA Electric Corporation (Head Office: Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan; Representative Director, Chairman of the Board and President: Hiroshi Ogasawara) announces the launch of the MOTOMAN-HD7 and HD8(Payload capacity: 7 kg, maximum reach 927 mm/ Payload capacity: 8 kg, maximum reach 727 mm), which are designed for the life sciences and pharmaceutical markets and offer improved cleanroom compatibility and ease of cleaning. This system contributes to the automation of transporting chemicals and small containers in environments requiring advanced hygiene management.

1. Purpose of commercialization

 In the life sciences and pharmaceutical markets, workers must wear protective clothing to handle chemicals and containers in a sterile environment. The need for automation was increasing because long hours of work were difficult, and the work sometimes involved handling dangerous chemicals.

 Yaskawa Electric have developed the MOTOMAN-HD7 and HD8, which are designed to be suitable for cleanroom environments where such advanced hygiene management is required, and which offer improved ease of cleaning.

We meet our customers’ needs for ensuring safety, reducing workload, and improving work efficiency.

 

2. Main Features

 Cleanroom compatibility and improved ease of cleaning by a design suitable for hygienic environments.

(1) Compliant with cleanroom class 4 (HD8) and class 5 (HD7) standards based on ISO 14644-1.

(2) The protection class is equivalent to IP69 for all axes, and it features a superior special coating that can

 withstand cleaning with H2O2 and other detergents. *1

(3) Uses FDA-approved food-grade grease. *2

(4) Smooth surface that is easy to clean and prevents dirt from accumulating.

(5) Axle sealing design and materials compliant with EHEDG recommendations. *3

*2 The certification is issued by the Food and Drug Administration, a government agency under the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

*3 The recommendations from the European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group (EHEDG), a non-profit foundation that develops hygiene design guidelines for the food and related industries.
