YASKAWA Electric Corporation (Head Office: Kita-Kyushu, Fukuoka, Japan; Representative Director, President: Masahiro Ogawa) announces the launch of the MOTOMAN-GP10 (payload capacity of 10 kg, maximum reach of 1101 mm), a new line up of the MOTOMAN GP series of small, versatile robots that have been well received in the market. The MOTOMAN-GP series has expanded its operating range and transportable weight while maintaining space saving and light weight.

1. Purpose of commercialization

In recent years, against the backdrop of a declining working-age population and a worsening labor shortage, there has been a strong demand for automation using small, easy-to-install robots not only in the automotive industry but also in general industries such as logistics, food, cosmetics, and healthcare. In response, Yaskawa developed the MOTOMAN-GP10, which expands the operational range and payload capacity of the MOTOMAN-GP7/GP8—models that have received high market acclaim for their slim arm structure, compact installation space, and lightweight design. This new model will better address customer needs for improved productivity and reduced manufacturing costs.

Furthermore, rather than simply making conventional models more portable, Yaskawa will contribute to automation in areas that could not be adequately addressed by expanding its existing lineup of compact models by utilizing space-saving, environmentally resistant, and high-precision motion technologies cultivated through the design of industrial robots.

2. Main Features

(1) Space saving, portability, and long reach

This model achieves a reach of 1101 mm while maintaining the same footprint size (GP 8: payload capacity 8 kg / maximum reach 727 mm, GP7: payload capacity 7 kg / maximum reach 927 mm), and ensures a more transportable and slim arm structure compared to MOTOMAN-GP7/8.

In addition, the full-cover structure with built-in motors and cables further reduces interference with peripheral equipment. Its compact size allows for installation in existing facilities and mass production facilities with limited space, as well as mounting on AGVs/AMRs.

(2) High-precision operation

Small parts assembly and inter-process transport sometimes require delicate workpiece holding and accurate loading and unloading. This model achieves high-precision operation by utilizing the following features to handle customer’s products reliably and safely.

■Features

Adoption of optimal motors as well as reduction gears

Achievement of high rigidity and weight reduction of the arm, which is essential for high-precision operation, through topology analysis methods*

Adoption of an absolute accuracy correction functionality as standard, which has not been available for small models, thereby improving trajectory accuracy

*Topology analysis method: A method for optimizing the shape of structures by extracting only the structurally necessary parts and eliminating unnecessary parts, thereby optimizing material placement and deriving the optimal shape with less material while maintaining strength.

(3) Full cover type for high environmental resistance

The MOTOMAN-GP10 has IP67 protection rating for dust and water resistance throughout the entire manipulator, enabling it to flexibly adapt to a variety of production environments. For example, it frees workers from a dangerous environment where they are continuously exposed to debris and fluid during machine tending, quality testing, deburring, and cleaning of machined parts.

(4) Ethernet cable included as standard

With a built-in Ethernet cable (Cat6A compatible) as standard, it can be used for a wide range of applications. For example, it can be used for tracking using handheld devices and cameras, 2D or 3D vision, and scanning applications, which are used in work picking systems and inspection processes.

3. Main applications

Assembly of small parts, inter-process transport, packing, sorting, inspection, etc.

4. Sales plan

(1) The product sales will start on July 29, 2025 in Japan and other regions will start selling sequentially.

(2)Sales price: Open price
