New ProductMay 19, 2025
Yaskawa Electric Corporation (Head Office: Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan; Representative Director and President: Masahiro Ogawa) announces that the company added 400 V input servo motor and SERVOPACK amplifier models suitable for large equipment to the company’s flagship AC servo drive series, Σ-X (sigma ten) Series, in order to make them available to a wider customer base, in particular customers in Europe and some Asian regions where the power supply voltage is 400 V.
AC Servo Drive Σ-X Series 400 V Input Models
In 1992, we were the first in the industry to bring an all-digital servo to market. The AC Servo Drive Σ Series has been acclaimed by customers for its high performance, advanced functionality, and compact design. The Σ Series is always evolving to meet changing customer needs, and in March 2021, we launched the Σ-X Series, which offers even better performance and functionality, and also includes functions to make use of sensing data.
This time, we added new 400 V input servo motor and SERVOPACK amplifier models to the lineup to offer the control performance and usability of the Σ-X Series on a more global scale. The new models support regional standards such as CE marking, UL standards, RoHS Directive, and KC mark to make them available in Europe and some Asian regions where the standard power supply voltage is 400 V. Therefore, they can be used widely, for example, with facilities for international customers or large equipment without a step-down transformer.
(1) Supports 400 V class power supply voltage for global use
The new models support the 400 V class power supply voltage so they can be used with equipment for global markets including those in Europe and some Asian regions without using a step-down transformer.
(2) Significantly enhanced functionality and performance of the Σ-X Series
① Best motion performance in the industry
・ The speed response frequency which is an important evaluation index for servo drives achieved 3.5 kHz, the highest level in the world, thereby increasing the ability to follow commands, enabling stable equipment operation, and improving productivity.
The maximum rotation speed of servo motors achieved 7000 min-1, thus improving the driving speed of equipment, reducing takt time, and improving productivity.
The use of an encoder that increases the resolution from the conventional 24 bits (16 million pulses/revolution) to 26 bits (67 million pulses/revolution), the highest level in the industry, improves the stop precision and makes the movement smoother.
・ Enhancement of the servo tuning functions necessary to maximize equipment performance (high speed and high precision) enables simple, optimal, and stable servo tuning in a short time, including mechanism tuning that was difficult before.
② Digital data solutions that start with servos
・ Collecting various data from equipment is important for preventive maintenance of equipment and production quality improvement, and the data detection functions enhanced since the Σ-7 have turned the servos into sensors.
・ The Σ-LINK II sensor network enables connecting equipment such as sensors and I/O equipment installed on the machine end to the encoder signal line. Less wiring and the utilization of high-speed sensor data synchronized with the encoder significantly enhance the system’s functionality and performance.
・ The Σ-X comes with various sensing functions and an environment/service life monitor in order to detect equipment errors in advance. The Σ-X can detect errors with its error detection function, which identifies changes in equipment.
We offer a wide range of models, specifically three SERVOPACK amplifier models compatible with interfaces such as the MECHATROLINK-4/Ⅲ and three servo motor models supporting a range from 200 W to 15 kW.
